Ocala, Florida, established in 1849, was built around Fort King. It is known as the Horse capital of the world famous for equestrian practice. Ocala has a rich historical background including The Square, Tuscawilla Park, and houses near Fort King. It is a great place to raise a family and it has lots of stores, parks and organic farmers markets on the weekend. I can tell you from personal experience as I grew up in Ocala and like to find special places to visit as the town continues to grow in size. Currently it is home to 59,267 people.
